The Government anticipates awarding a single firm fixed price contract in accordance with the procedures outlined in FAR 15.3 - Source Selection. REQUIREMENT BACKGROUND The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) uses a Central Utility Plant to generate and distribute steam and chilled water to provide heating and cooling to the office buildings and research laboratories located throughout the Gaithersburg, MD campus. Steam Boilers SG-5 and SG-6 in the Central Utility Plant have exceeded their useful life and need to be replaced. Emergency repairs completed during the last few winters took the boilers out of service, leaving no backup steam generating capacity. Replacement of the boilers will restore the reliability of the Central Plant steam generating capacity and ensure there is adequate backup steam generating capacity in the event of equipment failure. SCOPE OF REQUIREMENT The scope of this project is to restore the Central Utility Plant steam boiler reliability by replacing aging, unreliable boilers, as well as other plant support equipment and spaces (including feedwater system work, replacement of Motor Control Centers 3c and 3d, and office and control booth upgrades) as outlined in the DRAFT Statement of Work. All work shall be performed at the NIST campus located at 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899. The magnitude for this project is estimated to be between $5 Million and $10 Million. SOLICITATION REQUIREMENTS NIST intends to award a single firm-fixed price contract for the Building 302 Major Equipment Replacement. An awardee shall be selected in accordance with the procedures prescribed under FAR subpart 15.3 - Source Selection. A formal Solicitation will be posted to the https://www.sam.gov/ website outlining the requirement and selection process.
