Description

This section describes minimum material and work requirements for cleaning and sealing hot mix asphalt pavements with hot-applied crack sealant. a. Clean and seal only primary cracks along their entire length as directed by the Owner. Do not treat secondary radial cracks. Owner will determine which cracks are to be cleaned and sealed. In this specification, the word crack also means joint. b. Primary cracks are defined as those greater than or equal to 1/8 inch and less than or equal to 1 inch wide. c. Furnish all equipment necessary for cleaning and sealing pavement cracks. Equipment shall meet the description and/or performance requirements specified and approved by the Owner. d. Contractor shall replace pavement markings which are covered and/or obliterated with sealant over an area greater than 25% of their width at no additional cost to the Owner.
