Description

Summary of Work: Remove soft start fan controls on cooling tower fans. Replace with Variable frequency drives. Program proper operating sequence into energy management system (ALC). Broome Developmental center is seeking to fully automate control of its (2) cooling tower fans operation. Scope of Work Includes, but is not limited to the following: 1.Disconnect and remove (2) soft start controllers. 2.Furnish and install (2) variable frequency drives rated for 25hp(480v) motors 3.Supplied drives shall have a bi-pass to enable motors to run in the event of drive failure. 4.Connect all control wiring, energize, and confirm proper operation on bi-pass. 5.Connect drives to existing Automated Logic Control (ALC) system. Where applicable, ALC controls and wiring from the soft start controllers may be reused. However, such reuses will not exempt vendor from one year warrantee. 6.Vendor shall do all programing and provided all controls necessary for ALC software to control VFD speed based on water temperature. 7.Vendor shall do all programing and provided all controls necessary to enable plant staff to control VFD speeds and on/off status from ALC in manual mode. When placed in manual mode, plant staff shall be able to set VFDs to any safe speed. Plant staff shall also be able to force VFD on and off from ALC control front end. When placed in manual mode in ALC controls, there shall be a constant highlight of the VFDS on the graphical interface to enable plant staff to see at glance that VFDs have been placed in manual mode. 8.All programing and control work must be performed by techs authorized to work on Automated Logic systems by manufacture of Automated Logic. 9.Turn over removed soft start controls to facility and remove all work generated waste 10. Vendor shall provide “As Built” documentation to owner. Such documentation shall include a listing of all points controlled by ALC and a line drawing showing all wiring, termination points, and control boards necessary for ALC control of the VFDs. Vendor shall also provide all manuals and schematics available from the manufacture of the VFD drives. 11.Vendor shall confirm that ALC controls drives as required by this scope in the presence of plant staff. Vendor shall provide training on how to use the ALC controls. 12.Furnish one (1) year warranty on all parts and labor related to control of ALC drives. 13.All work shall be performed to manufactures specifications, all relevant codes, and industry best practices. Where wiring penetrations are necessary.
