KSC High Pressure Gas Facility (K7-0853) Structural Repairs: work includes structural repairs and upgrades to the roof structure and roof deck to comply with current building code requirements for wind design on an existing high pressure gas storage building. existing metal roof is comprised of structural steel with roof decking, configured such that panel sections approximately 16 foot wide by 20 foot long can be removed in order to remove or replace gas cylinders. These structural panels are to be removed and reused, while the roof decking is to be removed and replaced. Structural members are to be refurbished for repair and augmented for structural upgrades, while tops of concrete columns and walls are also structurally repaired and rebuilt. Structural frames are to be transported off-site for hot dip galvanizing for enhanced corrosion protection, then reinstalled. A new coat of paint is to be applied to new and existing concrete. Aluminum roof decking is to be removed and replaced with new aluminum decking to match existing. The new roofing is to be detailed in a similar manner to allow individual panel removal for future cylinder access. Lightning protection system will have its mechanical connections cleaned and re-terminated. New steel will be bonded to existing steel structure. Counterpoise system will remain and the entire system will be re-certified.
