Description

The work of the contract consists of removing undersized existing culverts and replacing with larger pipes of the right size and right elevation. The ditches that carry the water to the culverts will be cleaned out to the right size and right elevations as well. A section of Battery Creek Road in Basin 1 will be raised to provide enough cover for the larger pipe crossings. To provide protection from high tides and storm surges, flap gates will be installed on the downside of the pipes under the Spanish Moss Trail. This will create a natural detention area between the Spanish Moss Trail and Battery Creek Road. Due to the change of use of the Spanish Moss Trail, a sheet pile wall will be installed within the old railroad bed to provide for added reinforcement and strength.
