Description

To complete roof repair, elevator shaft construction, and face repair for a building located at 7514 South State Street, Lowville. The request for proposal is regarding the Downtown Lowville Stabilization project that will support the renovation to the former sheriff’s office and jail site, located at 7514 South State Street. This RFP is relative to Phase 2 of this project in which Lewis County is seeking proposals for general construction post asbestos and lead interior and exterior abatement. Roof Repair The project will comprise of roof repair, including but not limited to the labor and material to remove and dispose of existing roofing after asbestos abatement has been completed. For the mandatory site visit, the roof will remain un-tarped so that bidders can view the roof’s condition post asbestos abatement. The proposal shall include, but is not limited to, the replacement of the current roof with asphalt shingles, synthetic underlayment, new drip edge, all flashings, eves repair and painting. Additionally, during the asbestos abatement phase, several holes in the roof were identified towards the rear of the building and it may require reinforced/replaced rafters. Any additional work required should be identified by the bidder during the mandatory site visit and shall be included in the proposal. Elevator Shaft The project comprises the construction of a new elevator shaft, including but not limited to; construction of code compliant hoistway and machine enclosure with access door, extension of power supply to machine enclosure, providing a suitable base & support for machine, providing a 14” minimum pit at landing, provide light, receptacle and switch in pit to comply with code, provide pit ladder for pits 36” or more in depth, and removal of construction debris or materials. This RFP does not include the purchase of the elevator. The elevator, an Orion, L.U.L.A model manufactured by Savaria, will be supplied and installed by Accessibility Solutions 5 following the shaft construction. Elevator specifications are included in Appendix C. Facade Repair The proposal shall include exterior repairs, to include the facade (brick repointing/repair/replacement). Per the requirements of the NYMS grant and SHPO, repointing mortars shall be compatible with historic mortar and masonry in color, texture, tooling, size, strength, and profile joint. Bid should cover all costs, including but not limited to junk haul away and clean up.
