Description

The Project site is approximately 20 acres where a former brick manufacturing company was located. Informally known as the "Barboursville brick yard", it is bounded by the Guyandotte River to the north, by the CSX main railway line to the south, a residential area to the west, and an apartment complex to the east. Access is from Riverview Drive at the site's east end. Access across the on-grade railroad crossing to Peyton Street is not permitted. The Cabell County Board of Education (Hereinafter referred to as Owner) invites qualified contractors to submit sealed bids to provide all Work, including but not limited to labor, material, equipment, supplies and transportation for SITE PREPARATION PACKAGE A NEW DAVIS CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Former Barboursville Brickyard on Riverside Drive All bids must be submitted in accordance with the Bidding Documents issued by the Architect and this Invitation to Bid. A full description of the Project is found in the Summary Section 01 10 00 of the Project Manual. Deposits will be refunded to Bidders who return the Bidding Documents, in good condition, to C&B Blueprint, Inc. within fourteen (14) days following the Bid Opening. Partial sets will not be issued. Bid Documents may be viewed at the office of the Architect (Edward Tucker Architects Inc., 1401 Sixth Avenue, Huntington WV 25701, tel. 304-697-4990), the Owner, Contractors Association of WV, Parkersburg arietta Contractor's Association, Ohio Valley Construction Employer's Council, Kanawha Valley Builder's Association, Construction Employers Association of North Central WV, Group, Construction Central, and Construction Data. Bidders will be required to provide Bid security in the form of a Bid Bond in the amount of not less than 5% of the total amount bid, including all add alternates. The bond shall be on the form bound in the Project Manual. A Contract Performance Bond and Payment Bond each equal to one hundred percent of the Contract Price will be required for the successful Contractor. Other bidding requirements are described in the Project Manual. Bidder will be required to complete the Work (Substantial Completion) within 60 (sixty) calendar days from the date of commencement. As actual damages for delay in completion of the Work are impossible to determine, the successful Bidder (Contractor) and his Surety shall be liable for and shall pay to the Owner the sum of $500, not as a penalty, but as fixed, agreed and liquidated damages for each calendar day of delay until the Contract Work is substantially completed as defined in the General and Supplementary Conditions of the Contract for Construction. Submit offer on the Bid Form provided. Bidders will be required to submit offer under a condition of irrevocability for a period of 60 days after submission. The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to re-advertise.
