Description

Replace the BPC system with a nitrifying activated sludge process for biological (rather than chemical) ammonia removal for chemical savings and reduced risk associated with chemical feed Reduce O&M costs associated with inefficient equipment and high chemical usage; Reduce the risk of future unanticipated emergency repairs and associated discharge permit violations Address O&M issues associated with traveling bridges/scum system; Provide disinfection modifications to allow continued compliance with the Enterococci discharge limits Incorporate denitrification (DN) into the process to reduce operating costs, improve process reliability and prepare for potential future total nitrogen (TN) limits; Provide a 3rd bioreactor train with a 6 MGD capacity to increase the design AAF treatment capacity of the facility up to 18 MGD, ultimately improving process performance and providing operation and maintenance flexibility; and Install 2 new volute sludge thickeners and replace existing 4 belt press sludge dewatering equipment with 3 new volute presses to improve solids dewatering operation along with structural and mechanical improvements to the solids handling facility. Liquidated damages for failing to timely attain Substantial Completion and Final Completion are not additive and will not be imposed concurrently.
