Description | The City of Colorado Springs Parks Department is seeking Request for Proposals or RFP bids to renovate the two lakes located in South Monument Valley Park. The northern lake, or Duck Lake, is located within Monument Valley Park, south of the intersection of Glen Street and Uintah Avenue. The second lake, or Shadow Lake in Monument Valley Park is located south of Mesa Road and just behind the swimming pool. Duck Lake is accessible from Glen St. Shadow Lake is accessible along the gravel road adjacent to Monument Creek on the west side of the creek. PRCS is soliciting proposals to provide the City with one contractor that will excavate and remove material. Install a liner in both lakes and incorporate an aeration system to keep the lake water fresh to avoid the growth of unwanted vegetation that comes from a stagnant lake. There is an existing aeration system in the Duck Lake, but it does not have the capacity to turn the water over frequently enough to be effective. The plan calls out a fountain in Duck Lake, concrete viewing platforms in both lakes, new trees and shrubs are shown in the planting plan. Each Lake will have new irrigation installed as well. The irrigation systems will be bid separately and be managed by Jarod Clayton with Colorado Springs Parks. Parks will run the lake bid and irrigation bids congruently ensuring what little overlap there is between to two projects happens seamlessly. Irrigation plans are in both lake plans for reference only.
