Maple Ave Supplemental Services

Supplemental Services - Projects consist of (a) installation of a 1 waterline and (b) mill/overlay Maple Avenue which includes restriping and curb painting. Sealed Bids should be returned in a sealed envelope clearly marked Bid Response - Maple Avenue Supplemental Services on the outside of the envelope and should be marked to the attention of Patrick Madigan. Michael Johnson, PE Project Manager mjohnson@handp.com 540-998-0173 Contract A will include replacement of approximately 222 linear feet of 1 copper water line as shown in the Maple Avenue Streetscape Improvements plans dated 03 March 2022 (Plan Sheets C-302, C-310, and C-601) Contract B will include milling Maple Avenue to 2 below existing curb, installing a 2 overlay following the streetscape improvements project, and restriping per the Maple Avenue Streetscape Improvements plans dated 03 March 2022. For contracts with a value exceeding five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000), the Contractor shall deliver to the Owner or its designated representative, a Standard Performance Bond and a Standard Labor and Material Payment Bond, forms for which are enclosed in the Contract Documents, each fully executed by the Contractor and one or more surety companies legally licensed to do business in Virginia and each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the accepted bid. If more than one Surety executes a bond, each shall be jointly and severally liable to the Owner for the entire amount of the bond. Sureties shall be selected by the Contractor, subject to approval by the Owner. No payment on the Contract shall be due and payable to the Contractor until the bonds have been approved by the Owner and the City Attorney for City, Virginia. In order to facilitate review of the bonds by the City Attorney, the power of attorney from the surety company to its agent who executes the bond shall be attached to the bond, or, if not so attached, prior to the execution of the bonds by the surety, recorded in the Office of the Clerk of Court for City, Virginia, at 1030 Mary Bethune Street LL3, , Virginia 24558-3213. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall be in accordance with procedure (i) of Section 2.2 - 4330 of the Code of Virginia The City of Covington offers equal employment opportunities to all bidders.
