Lower Woods Pond - Renovate Dam

Lower Woods Pond Dam includes three earthfill dams (identified as Dam 1, Dam 2, and Dam 3) that impound a 91-acre lake on the east Branch of Dyberry Creek. The maximum embankment height is about 21 ft, and the lengths of the embankments at Dam 1, Dam 2, and Dam 3 are 420 ft, 220 ft, and 265 ft, respectively. The rehabilitation of Lower Woods Pond Dam generally includes removal of the existing concrete spillway at Dam 2 and construction of a new embankment within the removal footprint; removal of the existing outlet works at Dam 1; and construction of a new cast-in-place concrete labyrinth spillway with integral outlet works at Dam 1. For each of the three embankments, a new filter and drainage system will be installed, the downstream slopes will be flattened, and the dam crests will be raised.
