Description

The project consists of the dredging of the man-made pond within the historical bounds to remove silt and debris that has accumulated from erosion. The project also consists of lowering the Fire Pond Dam. The work generally includes: installation of temporary construction access, temporary water controls, sediment and debris removal within the pond, installation of a dry hydrant, removal of concrete, and related work. The control of water, including the bypass of discharges through the project site and into the downstream channel is required at all times. All construction shall be performed in the dry. Contractor shall submit a specific control of water plan to the Engineer and NHDES for review and approval prior to mobilization. The Town will provide hauling and disposal of excavated sediment and debris. Due to this, the project schedule is limited to a July to August 2020 time frame. The Contractor is advised that overhead electric and telephone utility lines exist within the project area and cannot be disturbed. The Contractor shall be responsible for: 1) Coordination with each utility owner prior to mobilization and any excavation activities, 2) notifying DigSafe prior to excavation activities, 3) the protection of all utilities during construction and 4) any and all costs associated with protection and any temporary relocation and replacement of utilities.
