Description | This sale is third row operator select thinning of approximately 570 acres of 31 year old planted slash pine along the New River in Tate's Hell State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Franklin County, Florida. Timber available for harvest includes every third row thin and select trees in the leave rows to leave a residual basal area of 50-60 square feet per acre (approximately 215 trees per acre). Timber to be removed in the leave rows includes diseased, deformed, defective, forked, and suppressed trees as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominate trees to reach the target basal area. At the discretion of the Forester-in-Charge, the harvest prescription can be modified to take two rows leave four rows with same selection to better accommodate low ground pressure equipment if ground conditions warrant. Estimated harvest volume on this sale is: 12,273 tons with the following breakdown: 9,239 tons of pulpwood and 3,034 tons of chip-n-saw or better. Sale boundaries are roads, wetlands, or obvious timber type changes. This is an eighteen (18) month contract. |
