12th Avenue Bus Connector

The project has been approved for design services only. This request is for Architect/Engineer (A/E) to provide design and project management to establish the schematic design concept, design development, construction documents and bidding services. The university may amend the A/E contract upon approval for construction contract administration and post-construction services.A new roadway is desired to provide bus circulation on the north end of the Wexner Medical Center. This roadway will connect John Herrick Drive and 12th Ave between Arnoff Lab and Jennings Hall. Access to the adjacent building entrances will need to be accommodated in the new roadway. Neil Drive on the north side of John Herrick Drive will need to shift to meet the new roadway alignment. Several utilities will need evaluated and adjusted including, but not limited to, an existing storm water lift station, existing detention basin, high pressure steam vault, utility tunnel and other site utilities found in the corridor. Traffic signal adjustments at nearby intersections and restriping of 12th Ave may be needed to accommodate the new bus circulation route. The proposed roadway may require fill against the existing screen wall around the Arnoff transformer. A structural analysis will be needed to confirm constructability. City storm water permitting will be required to replace the detention basin with an underground structure. The roadway will be required to meet the University’s Design Guidelines for Buildings and Landscape.
