Description | Site work for a water / sewer project in Dubuque, Iowa. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project. Both the Upper and Lower segments of the Bee Branch Greenway included the installation of a new 36" gravity sanitary interceptor sewer. Because both of these phases were completed prior to the Bee Branch Railroad Crossing Project, in the interim an 18" sanitary sewer siphon was installed in Garfield Avenue until the railroad crossing could be completed which would connect the upper 36" sewer with the lower 36" sewer. The siphon is now starting to fill the upstream 36" gravity sewer with sludge resulting in additional maintenance costs. When the railroad project was bid the connecting sewer was included in the project documents, however when bids were received they were significantly over budget and the connecting sewer could not be funded through the railroad crossing project. This project will fund the construction of the missing 36" connecting sewer. To install this segment of pipe, the sewer will be microtunneled underneath the Canadian Pacific rail yard. This project is 100% and permitted by the railroad so construction may proceed once funding is available. This project is in included in the City of Dubuque FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 17, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
