Rehabilitation of 96th Avenue Bridge Over Bijou Creek – Phase 2

This Phase 2 construction project is intended to continue the rehabilitation of the existing 360-foot long by 24-foot wide, six-span, prestressed concrete tee girder bridge carrying East 96th Avenue over Bijou Creek in eastern Adams County. (The Phase 1 project involving substructure repairs was completed in 2020.) The Phase 2 work includes, but is not limited to, removal of the existing asphalt overlay from the bridge deck, concrete patching repairs to the bridge deck and curbs, replacement of expansion joint bridging plates, construction of deck drains, placement of a deck waterproofing membrane, construction of a new asphalt deck overlay and approach pavements (aprons), gravel road transitions and shouldering, and installation of new bridge rails and guardrails. Also included are construction surveying, public information services, and construction traffic control. The road will be closed to traffic at the bridge with a signed detour in place for the duration of the project.
