Beach Access - Boardwalk Rejuvenation

a. Scope of work is to include Boardwalk/Beach access structures #19, 20, 60, 62, 75, 77 b. Remove and dispose of all decking, stairs, stringers, supports, handrails, structural lumber. c. The only portion to remain are the structural pilings. d. Rebuild structures back to their original configuration utilizing materials as described below. e. See Exhibit "1" for locations and previous refurbished access structures. f. Boardwalk/Beach Access structures that are adjacent to each other cannot be under construction at the same time. g. Remove and dispose of old structural lumber components less pilings. h. Align skewed pilings as needed. i. Replace all lumber with #1 or better…060 CCA PT for salt water splash environment. All angled cuts shall be mitered equally on both sides of the joint. j. Replacement fasteners shall be 316 stainless hex head machine bolts or carriage bolts fastened with flat washers and nylock nuts and threads passing nut end 1" (If field cutting of bolt is required, cut end must be deburred ) Any other bolt fastener will not be accepted. k. All aluminum connecting/support brackets shall be reinstalled or replaced if excessively corroded. l. Deck screws shall be 316 stainless Simpson torx head set below boards 1/8" m. Top handrail cap shall be a 2"x6" Lumberjack type composite wood (redwood) and finish at 42" high. n. All stair stringers tops, headers and truss topsides shall be wrapped with a selfadhering Peel and Seal type weatherproofing membrane (black). o. Existing aluminum handrails to be reinstalled to original locations. p. Both ends of construction site shall be secured from public access. Caution Tape will not be accepted. q. All 316 stainless washers, fasteners and bolts shall be submitted to project manager before installation. r. End piece of bolts and fasteners shall be under decking only, not to be exposed to exterior of decking. s. All butt joints or other joints, to land on vertical posts.
