Description

Clarifier No. 3 is a 100-foot inside diameter center pier clarifier with half bridge. It was constructed in 1998. Included in the Scope of Work: 1. Sandblast and paint the normally submerged truss arms, the sludge collection hood and scum skimmer. 2. Sandblast and paint the scum beach and scum beach brackets. 3. Sandblasting and painting the normally partially submerged center baffle and energy dissipating inlet baffle is a bid alternate. 4. Collect blasting aggregate and removed paint from bottom of clarifier. Excluded from the Scope of Work: 1. Painting of center column, bridge, perimeter baffle, perimeter weir. 2. Dewatering of the clarifier. Owner’s Operator will dewater the clarifier. Contractors note the clarifier will have a 10-foot diameter ring of water around the center of the hopper bottom several inches deep that is impractical to remove due to the nearly flat floor. The remainder of the clarifier floor will generally have a few inches of water present as it continually enters through pressure relief valves. at high Mississippi River stage and associated high ground water levels, dewatering becomes impractical and work may be delayed.
