Denver Water provides clean, reliable water to more than 1.4 million people throughout the Denver metropolitan area. In order to effectively provide water, Denver Water has nineteen (19) pump stations, five (5) water distribution decentralization stations, four (4) water treatment plants, one (1) water quality laboratory, and its main operations complex located in and around the Denver area. Denver Water contracts janitorial services for these facilities to maintain a clean, sanitary, and healthy work environment for its employees in a cost-effective manner. Denver Water is striving to achieve Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ("LEED") certification for its new operations complex and would like to incorporate "Green" cleaning standards for all buildings listed above. As such, certain cleaning supplies must meet LEED certification standards which are detailed below. Located on-site at Denver Water’s administration building is a Water Recycling System ("WRS"). All water, liquids, and related products that go into drains in the sinks and floor drains, and all water flushed down the toilets and urinals are fed into this system and processed through the WRS and reused only for irrigation purposes and for use in toilets and urinals.
