Description

Anthracite Coal: 1. Layer Depth: 30-inch plus or minus ½-inch, after placement and skimming. Provide 1-inch skimming allowance and 5 percent extra. 2. Effective Size: 0.95 mm plus or minus 0.05 mm. 3. Uniformity Coefficient: Less than or equal to 1.40. 4. Specific Gravity: Greater than or equal to 1.65. 5. Mohs’ Hardness: Not less than 2.7. 6. Acid Solubility: Less than 5 percent. 7. Visibly free of shale, clay, wood, and other extraneous debris. B. Silica Sand: 1. Layer Depth: 12-inch plus or minus ½-inch, after placement and skimming. Provide ½-inch skimming allowance and 5 percent extra. 2. Effective Size: 0.50 mm plus or minus 0.05 mm. 3. Uniformity Coefficient: Less than or equal to 1.40. 4. Specific Gravity: Greater than or equal to 2.6. 5. Mohs’ Hardness: Not less than 6. 6. Acid Solubility: Less than 5 percent. 7. Visibly free of shale, clay, wood, and other extraneous debris.
