Description

The surface layer of pavement on Skokie Boulevard between Lake Cook Road and the Village's southern limit needs to be replaced. The roadway was last resurfaced in 2006 and is currently rated as having many failures. Roadways rated as having many failures (2 on a scale of 5) have large potholes and signs of the base beginning to fail will become evident. Examples of these failures include alligator cracking and failure of the roadway surface. The surface has been repeatedly patched and its condition is reaching a point where patching will no longer be an option. In FY 2020/2021, the Village received notice that this project is the North Shore Council's top rated contingent project for funding in the 2021-2025 Transportation Funding Program. The North Shore Council is a group of 11 municipalities representing local governments on transportation issues through the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). If another funded project does not move forward, this project will be scheduled in its place with 80% of costs covered. In FY 2020/2021, staff completed 90% of the necessary design work, final details would be completed before letting the project. This project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 27, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
