Description

The Work will consist of hydraulic dredging of approximately 22,000 cubic yards of silty sand material from 5.5 acres of water bottoms within the existing D’Olive Bay Boat Channel with discharge of dredged material in a designated thin-layer disposal area in Mobile Bay in accordance with the issued United States Corps of Engineers permit. The channel will be dredged to a minimum depth of 6 feet and a maximum depth of 7 feet at mean low water. The dredge material will be discharged in a thin layer (approximately 0.67 foot depth increase) within an approximately 16.5 acre area in the nearby Blakely River. Work shall include a pre-dredge hydrographic survey and a post dredge hydrographic survey. The Contractor shall provide pre-dredging volume calculations for determining limits of estimated dredging. The contractor shall provide a hydrographic survey with each pay request which includes a cubic yard dredge quantity. The Contractor shall submit post dredging volume calculations for the final payment. The Contractor shall provide for all safety markings, lights, light plants, etc. to mark the discharge line, dredge plant and thin disposal discharge area in accordance with the USACE permit and standard industry practices. All survey work shall be performed and stamped by an engineer or surveyor licensed in the State of Alabama. The Contractor shall attest in writing that all dredging was done in accordance with the issued USACE permit.
