The Polk-Quincy Viaduct Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) project is tentatively scheduled to begin construction in 2025. At this time, KDOT funding and timeframe have not been finalized. The initial phase of the project will be from roughly MacVicar to 4th Street (+/-) and will impact other local streets. The estimated cost for this section of the KDOT project is $234 million, including $17 million in estimated right-of-way acquisition costs. KDOT has asked local communities to partner in funding the project in order to move it forward. This project provides funding to support expenses associated with right-of-way acquisition, construction/reconstruction of impacted existing streets, and pavement improvements needed to prepare local streets for anticipated detours during construction of tie-ins for I-7 As of July 12, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2022-2027 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2023. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
