Phase 3 Lab Project Scope: 3rd floor East 1.Demolition and reconstruction of existing laboratories to create new and efficient lab spaces that comply with current safety code standards and current research methodologies. Equipment coordination and chemical storage are major design considerations. Major construction challenges will be the complexities surrounding the pre-demolition of surface mounted lab utilities prior to abatement demolition and minimizing shutdown impact to other building occupants. 2.Examples of lab basis of design can be found on our campus in the new Thatcher Building (87 TBBC) and the 3rd floor West Lab area, which is under construction now. Emergency power will need to be provided for these renovated spaces to eliminate costly insurance claims for ruined equipment in the occurrence of unplanned power outages.
