Description

This project consists of master planning, design and construction of a public park and gathering place at the 37-acre New Riverside barn site. The site is located at the southwestern quadrant of the New Riverside traffic circle at the intersection of SC Highway 170 and 46. Future improvements may include the renovation of the existing barn for a gathering and event space, parking, perimeter trails, open fields to allow for larger community events, site furnishings, destination playground, picnic shelter, lighting, landscaping and safety cameras. The project will likely be implemented in multiple phases depending on funding availability. Project stakeholders include the citizens of the Town of Bluffton, especially the expanding population at the New Riverside, Palmetto Bluff, Jones Estate and Buckwalter PUD's. This project is in included in the Town of Bluffton FY 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of August 4, 2022, this project is in the design phase. Information regarding the design firm has not been disclosed. Phase one site development is expected to bid in September of 2021 and construction is estimated to start in November/December of 2022. Phase two and three are estimated to bid in spring of 2023. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
