Description | This sale is an improvement harvest thinning of approximately 664 acres of pine stands from Blackwater River State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The timber to be removed will be cut in 20-foot swaths leaving 40-foot swaths in between each cut swath. Swaths must be curved wherever possible to enhance aesthetics and reduce the look of a "mechanical thinning". Leaning, forked, diseased, and defective timber is to be harvested from the 40-foot leave swaths. Trees with a Diameter at Breast Height of 12 inches or more are not to be harvested. The forester in charge has the right to make minor adjustments to the cutting scheme as needed (For example, adjusting the operator select thinning in denser leave swaths). Fuelwood is an alternate product that can be bid on but will not be used to determine a winning bidder. If the winning bidder chooses to bid on fuelwood then they will be expected to harvest all fuelwood within the contract specifications. Estimated volumes to be removed include 9,629 tons of pine pulpwood, 825 tons of super pulpwood, and 547 tons of pine chip-n-saw. Bids will be blended into one product known as Pine Pulpwood and Better. Fuelwood is estimated at 1,500 tons. |
