Description

The University of Alabama in Huntsville requests sealed qualification documents from interested firms in providing Construction Management Services for The New Engineering Building & Replacement for Wernher von Braun Research Hall Project (Project). The Construction Management Services shall include preconstruction services, contract phase services, construction services, closeout services, and construction auditing services. The New Engineering Building & Replacement for Wernher von Braun Research Hall Project includes two phases with Phase 1 consisting of the construction of a new, 85,000 gross square foot facility located adjacent to the site of the existing Engineering Building, on John Wright Drive. Phase 2 includes the full renovation of the existing Engineering Building. The demolition of Wernher von Braun Research Hall, located south of the existing Engineering Building, will also be included in the project's overall scope of work. Initial programming for this project is in progress and scheduled for completion in March 2023. The estimated total project cost, including both Phase 1 and Phase 2, is $107,100,000. Qualifications: Interested firms shall demonstrate experience with similar projects and an established record of expertise in Construction Management Services for projects in the $80,000,000 to $120,000,000 range through the Design-Bid-Build (DBB) project delivery method. Interested firms may suggest other sub-consultants with a record of similar experience; however, the intended contract shall be a single contract for the complete scope of services between the University and the selected firm. Response: Submittals should include, in addition to the letter of interest, supporting information that the firm determines best exhibits their expertise and experience. The supporting information should not exceed thirty (30) pages per copy. The supporting information must illustrate appropriate, similar experience of the firm and subconsultants, if proposed, and shall identify the actual team proposed for the project. Final applications, including the letters of interest and supporting information, must be received no later than 2:00 pm (Central Time) on April19, 2023. Firms selected for final interviews will be notified no later than April 25, 2023. Interviews are expected to be held on May 9, 2023. The University will then recommend appointment of the best, qualified firm to the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. For questions and additional information, contact: Christian Re ed (256) 824-2538 Christian.R eed@uah.edu This request for qualifications is not an offer to contract but seeks the submission of qualifications from qualified, professional respondents that may form the basis for the negotiation of an agreement. The University reserves the right to reject any or all qualifications and to solicit additional qualifications, through the RFQ process, if that is determined to be in the best interests of the State of Alabama.
