Description

Repairs to a section of the existing horse trail system and a short hiking trail at Giant City State Park, Makanda, Illinois. The segment of horse trail that needs repair is approximately ½ mile in length and is severely eroded and gullied. Due to the deteriorated conditions of the existing trail and the steep grade it traverses, the best solution will be to re-align the trail to an area just to the south of the existing trail. The hiking trail needing repair is named Post Oak Trail. This trail is about 1/3 of a mile in length and a portion of the trail was repaired in 2019 with new concrete pavement. This project will repair the remaining length of trail, about +- 990 lin. ft. Included in the project will be demolition of existing pavement, installing new concrete sidewalk and then replacing two (2) small raised wooden decks.
