Facility Safety Improvements - Phase B

The main objective of this project is to design improvements for the overall life safety of the occupants of the facility. The scope of the Phase B project is as follows: All work associated with the corner mechanical shafts: • Provide and install masonry infill, penetration firestopping systems, and joint firestopping at all openings and penetrations in existing shaft walls as required to provide a fire barrier with 2-hour fire-resistance rating at walls of the four corner shafts. • Replace doors and door hardware to provide 1 ½-hour rated fire doors. • Provide and install fire/smoke dampers at ducts penetrating 2-hr fire-resistance rated shaft walls. • Infill floor openings and install guardrails to provide fall protection at openings in shaft floors.
