Griswold Water Purification Facility Filter Improvements

Planning a filter improvements project located at the Griswold WPF. The project will initially start with two filters during the Fall/Winter of 2020/2021 followed by a third filter once the first two filters have been completed. The filter improvement project will generally consist of the following: A. Removal and disposal of the existing filter media within the filter boxes for Filters No. 1, 2, and 10. The City of Aurora will complete all testing required for disposal. The contractor may also install new media. B. Inspecting the concrete filter boxes and Leopold underdrains of Filters No. 1, 2, and 10. The contractor will be responsible for making any necessary repairs identified to the underdrains, grouting, and concrete. C. Replacing the existing air scour piping in Filters 1, 2, and 10. D. Conducting a bubble test following removal of the filter media and following any filter repairs to verify that the underdrains are distributing air throughout the filter bottom evenly. E. Removal and replacement of the 36-inch backwash waste valves located in the filter gullet. D. Replace the existing backwash troughs with media retaining troughs. E. Replace the existing 14-inch diameter filter effluent valves and flow meters with 20-inch diameter valves and flow meters located in the pipe gallery. F. Install an EchoSmart filter interface level analyzer and backwash turbidity analyzer in each filter cell.
