Description

The scope of work involves rehabilitating Centennial Park's infrastructure, including but not limited to, drainage, water, and electrical, and improving the aging amenities to eliminate any safety and other concerns. Project limits are from East Centennial Avenue to the southern Property line of Centennial Park and from Babylon Turnpike to Nassau Road. Sidewalks around the perimeter of the park as well as pathways within the park are to be replaced. The basketball and handball courts will be resurfaced. The administration building will be updated and will serve as an additional park entrance point. Other improvements will include, but not limited to, video surveillance, new vinyl fencing, viewing area with bleachers, playground laid out in age-appropriate areas, spray park, and lighting. New elements will include a walking path with exercise stations, shading structures, a mini pitch soccer field and a reserve picnic area for visiting groups. All questions regarding this contract shall be submitted via email prior to 4:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023, to Daniel Wong at dwong@nassaucountyny.gov. No interpretation of the meaning of the Drawings, Specifications or other Contract Documents will be made to any Bidder orally. Prospective bidders must request in writing such interpretation from the Commissioner and such interpretation will be given in writing in the form of written addenda, to all prospective bidders, in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders, Item G. This Contract will be subject to Nassau County Local Laws No. 14-2002, "Participation by Minority Group Members and Women in Nassau County Contracts," which requires submission of a Utilization plan prior to the award of a County contract, No. 2-2016, "Participation of Service-Disabled Veterans in County Contracts," and No. 9-2002, as amended by No. 3-2015, which require that firms entering into contracts with Nassau County must participate in registered and approved apprenticeship training programs unless such requirement are supplanted by requirements specified in the bidding instructions. At the time of bid submission, the Contractor shall submit, as part of its bid, documents in compliance with Title 51 of the Nassau County Miscellaneous Laws demonstrating participation in approved apprenticeship training programs that are appropriate for the type and scope of work to be performed pursuant to the Contract. Such apprenticeship training programs appropriate for the scope of this Contract shall include, but are not limited to the following: Laborers, Electricians, Operating Engineer,Arborist, and/or any other trade appropriate for the type of work propose The apprenticeship training programs shall be registered with, and approved by, the New York State Commissioner of Labor in accordance with Article 23 of the New York State Labor Law. Note that if the Contractor does not comply with these requirements, the Commissioner may declare the Contractor's bid proposal non- responsive and award the Contract to the next lowest responsible Bidder.
