Description | Description of work: Design and construction for the repair and renovation of Building 1016, associated parking and walks, accessible walkways/entrances and electrical connectivity for MILVAN and associated site support improvements and incidental related work. The project is comprised of one site: Building 1016 site: Building 1016 is an existing 140,238 square foot building serving as a warehouse for several groups. Building 1016 is primarily a single-story facility with portions of the facility being two-story. Hurricane Florence caused significant damage to Building 1016 including envelope and interior damages. This requirement is for the design and construction for the repair and renovation of Building 1016, associated parking and walks, accessible walkways/entrances, and associated site support improvements and incidental related work. The project will include replacement of the existing roofing, canopy with metal column support, select interior walls, renovation of existing second floor spaces, addition of a second floor space, floor coverings, ceilings lighting, HVAC System, dust collection system, furnishings, windows, doors (man doors and roll-up doors), metal exterior stairs, metal roof ladders, asphalt parking, replacement of concrete loading docks, gutters and downspouts, exterior building and site lighting, and all utilities serving the building. Work will be phased with the temporary relocation of certain user groups. Laydown areas and construction shall be completed as to facilitate parking and movement of people to phased areas. Temporary use of MILVANs will be provided to house personnel during phasing. The MILVAN exact site adjacent to Building 1016 will be coordinated between the contractor, FRC East, IMRL, MAGS-14, and MALS-14. Electrical hookup connections for the MILVANs will be provided based on MILVAN locations and quantity as part of this contract. Mechanical and Electrical Utilities: Electrical to include site electrical and communication distribution, site lighting, and pad-mounted transformer. The existing steam heating system will be removed entirely from the building. Propane condensing boilers will provide heat for the building. The warehouse portion of the building will be heat and ventilate only. The woodworking area will be provided with a dust collection system. The office portions of the building will be provided with air conditioning and ventilation. Plumbing fixtures and above grade piping will be removed entirely from the building. Below grade piping will be abandoned. New plumbing utilities will be routed to the building. Telecommunication and data distribution to include telephone, SIPRNet and NIPRNet computer networks, FO cable to building and interior to secure area hub location, security and fire alarm systems. The project includes a requirement for furniture fixtures and equipment, as well as audio and visual equipment, for Building 1016. |
