Tunnel D 2020 Actuated High Pressure Air Isolation Valves

1.1 The Contractor shall furnish two (2) 6-inch Hydraulically-Operated High Pressure Air Valves with Grayloc part number: 6 GR52 Grayloc hubs, or a 6 GR52 Grayloc hub approved equal. Delivery shall be to Arnold Air Force Base, TN. 1.2 Valves are to be installed in series, directly coupled to one another to form a double-block-and-bleed isolation for intermittent personnel safety downstream of a high pressure air source. 1.3 Valves will be operated in a binary fashion (open/close cycles) rather than as proportionally-positioned control valves. 1.4 Valves will typically be cycled approximately 10 times per day in service. 1.5 Working media is compressed air, and the piping system is rated for 4400 psig maximum working pressure (1500 – 3800 psig typical). Air is nominally dry (< -40ºF dew point at 1 atm). Cleanliness is typical for the product of oil-sealed high pressure compressors and carbon-steel piping with only modest filtration. 1.6 Hydraulic media is Mobil DTE-24, filtered and thermally-conditioned in a recirculating system to nominally 100ºF. 1.7 Valves are to be installed for outdoor service in middle Tennessee climate, with ambient temperature extremes -20ºF to 120ºF, rain and sun exposure, etc. 1.8 Valves are to be identical in size, configuration, materials, and operation to provide for functional redundancy and flexibility to reconfigure as necessary during servicing.
