Description | Project consist of removing approximately 2200 square feet of small limestone gravel that currently has weeds and grass growing up through to a depth of a minimum of four inches. After removal of gravel and debris concrete shall be poured in sections with enough slope toward drain inside the battery to allow for adequate water run-off without ponding. Concrete wire shall be placed in entire area prior to pouring. The entire area only has one drain located in the middle of the battery. A concrete curb encircles the entire area except next to the brick/concrete wall of the building, so no forms would need to be erected unless pouring sections at a time. The concrete would be colored to resemble soil to better interpret life in the battery during the Civil War using integral colors to ensure entire batch is uniform. Expansion joints and saw cut joints shall be added to reduce risk of cracking. A concrete pump truck or portable concrete transport equipment may be needed to reach entire area due to limited accessibility and size of opening to the battery. |
