Description

Three existing cooling towers at the CBC (Classroom Building Complex) need immediate repairs. The scope of work to restore the towers to reliable, efficient, and safe operation includes the following measures: 1. Obtain all necessary state and local permits to perform this type of work. 2. Follow all UNLV standards and guidelines for contractors performing work on site. 3. Provide a detailed schedule for executing all aspects of the scope of work required. 4. Secure three towers with lock out-tag out and drain each tower. Stage operations to allow operation of at least one cooling tower when necessary. 5. Replace drift eliminators with new OEM drift eliminators. 6. Replace fill material with new OEM fill. 7. Install 316 stainless steel drip angle extensions (12 total). 8. Adjust fan belts for proper tension. 9. Inspect and grease sliding motor bases. 10. Clean cooling tower external surfaces using non-corrosive scale remover to the maximum capability of the scale remover without damaging the material. 11. Fill three cooling towers and restore electricity for operation. 12. Remove all waste and demolished materials from the site and dispose of them properly and recycle when possible. 13. Commissioning of the cooling towers to demonstrate proper operation of the cooling towers after repairs are completed. 14. Provide four (4) hours of classroom and in-person training by factory-certified trainers on the proper operations of the refurbished cooling towers prior to final acceptance.
