Description | The Project generally consists of three buildings, Peterson Hall 1 (PH1), Faculty Offices 4 (FO4) and Faculty Office 5 (FO5) that are to be demolished, replaced with one multi-story building for the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), and expanded surface parking. The PH1 building is a three-story concrete structure built in the 1950s that was originally the home of the College of Natural Sciences. Two levels are above ground and the third level is a partial basement area. The building is currently used as surge space since the construction of Hall of Science (HSCI) and Molecular and Life Science Center (MLSC) buildings which now house the College of Natural Sciences. PH1 lies between the Shakarian Student Success Center (SSSC) (formally Peterson Hall 2) and Fine Arts 4 (FA4) buildings adjacent to the Central Quad and directly across Friendship Walk, the campus main pedestrian path. The FO4 and FO5 buildings are two temporary modular buildings built in 1969 for faculty office space. Due to seismic concerns, the University has opted to demolish the buildings as part of the project. The estimated approximate gross square footage of the CHHS replacement building is currently 137,072 GSF. The replacement building will cover the current PH1 and FO5 footprint whereas the current FO4 building footprint will add to the current surface parking to provide additional parking for the clinic included as part of the new building. |
