CMR for Aqua Sports Center Renovation

The Project consists of interior renovations to the existing Aqua Sports Center in order to accommodate educational spaces in the Department of Theatre and Dance as well as the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Built in 1971, the Aqua Sports Center is a double height, split level building containing an indoor swimming pool and support spaces on the lower level and a gymnasium on the upper level. The primary area of scope will be the lower level swimming pool area, which will be drained and filled in. Major learning program components include a Film Sound Stage, Computer Lab, Television Studio, and a Recording/Mix Studio along with support spaces and storage. None of the spaces will have a live audience. A new electrical and technology system is required, as is a new roof and hydronic mechanical system. The plumbing system is anticipated to be remodeled as needed. Minor modification to the exterior will update the existing approach and accessible route to comply with TAS/ADA, as well as utility modifications.
