Description

Project Location : Bergland to Sidnaw (SB) Trail Culvert Replacement – Kenton Houghton County, MI Excavation, removals, disposal, backfill with existing material and potentially with imported material, slope restoration, bypass pumping or diversion, and erosion control measures at the Bergland to Sidnaw Trail near Kenton at 46.491281°, -88.867527°. This site has an existing 60” diameter concrete culvert that will be removed and replaced with a new 60” diameter concrete culvert. Some minor trail repairs and adjustments are also included. The culvert is buried about 20’ below the trail elevation. This culvert will also require beaver cones at each end. Phase I consists of plowing the snowmobile trail for access, bypass pumping/diversion, excavation of the existing embankment, removal of the existing culvert, lining the remaining channel with 6A and geotextile, installing erosion eels, and installing some of the riprap aprons to allow water to flow through the channel until Phase II can commence. Phase II is to remove the erosion eels from the channel and complete the remainder of the project.
