Additions and Renovations to Wilson High School

Separate, sealed Bids will be received for the following Prime Contracts: 3457-1 General Construction 3457-2 Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Construction 3457-3 Plumbing Construction 3457-4 Electrical Construction · Construction of a new performing arts center addition which connects the school’s Upper and Lower Houses. The addition contains a new main entrance, with new administration and guidance suites, and a small new kitchen addition on the back of the building; renovation of the existing auditorium into a new cafeteria and limited renovations to the school’s Lower House, along with other minor renovations and sitework. · With exception of the regular holiday and summer breaks, Wilson High School will be occupied by students, staff and the public throughout the duration of the Work. As such, security of the building and site, including safe access into, and egress from the student and staff occupied portions of the school is of utmost importance. Work of the Project will occur in multiple phases as described in Division 1 Section “Construction Progress Documentation”. · Generally, the new construction portions consist of both steel framed and load bearing masonry construction, steel joists and metal deck, masonry veneer, exterior metal wall panels, single-ply membrane roofing, aluminum storefront and curtain wall systems, casework and interior finishes along with the specified mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. · The Base Bid includes classified excavation where unit prices are requested for excavation related tasks. An alternate for unclassified excavation is requested. Unsuitable soils were encountered at two of the pre-design test boring locations. As a result, design subgrade has been defined in these areas at a point where suitable soils are anticipated. This will require over-excavation and placement of suitable fill in the Bid as defined in the structural drawings.
