Description

The Colorado State Fair is undergoing renovations to the Agricultural Palace to address accessibility deficiencies and safety issues. Examples of the improvements are the replacement of damaged or uneven concrete flooring throughout the building's interior, replacement of the arena perimeter guardrail, and repairs and/or replacements of various stairway and ramp handrails that are deteriorating or coming loose. In addition, three (3) Bid Add Alternates are identified for work to remove the tennis floor topping in the arena pit, replacement of an exterior stairway to meet minimum code requirements for slope and tread depths, and removal of excess asphalt and concrete flatwork around the SE exterior stair and ramp. The contractor will be responsible to coordinate their construction schedule around existing events at the Agricultural Palace, as well as with construction work occurring in the paved area behind the Agricultural Palace, please refer to Specification for details. BASE Scope of Services The project consists of the following principal design features: INTERIOR Floor repairs to trip hazards throughout the building Perimeter guard rail replacement to meet current code compliance Replacement and/or repairs to stair handrails EXTERIOR Replacement of SE ramp, stairs, and guardrails ALLOWANCES The following must be included in price on SBP-6.13 Bid Form: $75,000 For interior concrete Floor repairs to trip hazards $10,000 For Floor repairs made to the tennis court topping to grind or remove peeling areas, or if ADD ALTERNATE 02 is selected, this will be used for making repairs to the floor after the topping is removed and prior to the sealant BID ADD ALTERNATE 01 - Removal of asphalt and concrete adjacent to the SE exterior stair & ramp, and replacement with concrete. BID ADD ALTERNATE 02 - Removal of the tennis floor topping, repair of existing holes and divots. This item shall include cost to remove and re-install the vehicle access ramp to the arena pit. BID ADD ALTERNATE 03 - Replacement of NE stair & guardrails. Work should include sawcut and removal of a minimum of 3' around the stair base to tie into existing concrete with positive drainage. The Project is anticipated to be Substantially Complete by June 15, 2023. All work started must be completed and cleared by this date to allow for events in the Agricultural Palace.
