Description | -Brine Maker Maintenance and Repair Services SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, supplies and incidentals to provide “as needed” Brine Maker Equipment Repair and Maintenance Services on a time and materials basis to the facilities owned and operated by the Virginia Department of Transportation, Salem District. Services will include the repair or replacement of worn or broken parts. The Contractor shall clean out brine holding tanks as directed by the Contract Administrator or designee. VDOT will remove existing brine mixture from the tanks to allow the Contractor to clean and flush the storage tanks. All work will be coordinated with the Contractor and the Department and scheduled by the Contract Administrator or designee. Inspect tank and associated plumbing for defects such as leaks, corroded valves and fittings or other damage. Repair or replace as needed. 2. Thoroughly rinse tank and associated valves with fresh water every two (2) years. Excessive waste material {Sludge} (over 5 gallons) shall be collected and disposed of properly. VDOT will empty tanks as needed. (This must be arranged as far in advance as possible) 3. Inspect gauge on tank and ensure that it is operating correctly. Repair or replace any malfunctioning or broken components. 4. For double wall tanks – open the containment drain and drain out any water that may be accumulated in the containment. If there should be an excessive amount QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS INVITATION FOR BID: Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Shonda Fowler at shonda.fowler@vdot.virginia.gov . The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions by 5:00 p.m. on September 6, 2023. Damages: The Contractor will be fully responsible for damage to VDOT property caused by negligence or abuse by the Contractor’s employees or equipment, as determined by the authorized VDOT representative. Rejection of Contractor’s Employees: VDOT reserves the right to reject any of the Contractor’s employees who, in VDOT’s judgment, are not qualified to perform or direct the work. |
