Description Provide preliminary design, detailed design, and construction support services for a Federal Aid project that will complete the design of the Yonkers Greenway also known as the Yonkers Rail Trail. All qualified firms are invited to submit a response to this Request. The Yonkers Greenway is a proposed bike and pedestrian trail running approximately 2.4 miles along or near the former Getty Square branch of the Putnam Rail Line in Southwest Yonkers. The intent is to build a trail from the Van Cortlandt Park border with the Bronx up to the Yonkers downtown with a terminus at the Yonkers Train Station and Hudson Riverfront. The Greenway is envisioned to run both along the former rail-bed and along public streets. The selected professional should be an engineering firm, landscape architecture firm or a combination of related professions with specific experience in designing urban bike trails. To date, the Citys non-profit partner on this project, Groundwork Hudson Valley, has utilized grants and City funding to hire Alta Design and Planning to conduct a feasibility study of the entire trial and complete a design for a Greenway Phase 1, including construction documents for Phase 1-Central between the Caryl Avenue parking lot and Lawrence Street. The selected consultant will be charged with building upon Altas efforts, including revisiting a feasibility study of alternative routes and furthering the preliminary design. The consultant will also produce 100% construction documents and provide support services during construction.
