Energy and Geoscience Institute Geothermal Core Library Relocation

The Energy & Geoscience Institute (EGI) at the University of Utah stores approximately 25,000 cubic feet of geothermal rock samples in approximately 100,000 containers in the EGI Core Library (CL) at 865 South 600 West, Salt Lake City (SLCL). The collection weighs approximately 1.7 million pounds. This facility is rented from a private third-party landlord. The contents of the SLCL will be moved to a State of Utah owned facility in Clearfield at Building C6, 5th and D Street (Clearfield Core Library, CFCL) that is managed by the Department of Administrative Services, Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM). A new pallet racking system will be installed in the CFCL. The existing racking system is valuable, and it will be disassembled and offered for sale and salvage.
