Description

All bids will be on separate forms and in sealed envelopes clearly marked with the name of the project "Pedestrian Trail Project" in the lower left-hand comer. Bidders must use the Village of Blissfield Bid Form. This bid requires a mandatory site visit. All questions or to schedule an inspection/site visit concerning this bid should be directed to Brent Kastel, Department of Public Works Supervisor, at (517)202-6377. The Village of Blissfield reserves the right to accept deviations from the specifications and to waive any and all formalities or technicalities in the bidding in the sole discretion of the Village. The Village reserves the right to reject all bids or accept any bid, which in its sole and absolute judgment, shall under all circumstances, best serve the Village's interests. Bidders must use the Village Bid form. o The contractor shall be responsible for approximately 900 feet of 10' wide trail as outlined on the trail system map. o The contractor is responsible for ensuring properly compacted sub-grade that extends one foot beyond the edge of asphalt. o The sub-grade shall be prepared by removing vegetation, topsoil and unstable soil, shaping to grade, scarifying the surface to a minimum depth of six inches. o The sub-grade shall be compacted to a minimum of 95% of standard proctor density with an aggregate base course. o New bituminous pavement (MDOT #1100T or ODOT #412) shall be placed in the following manner: o The bituminous pavement shall be placed at an average course depth of 3 inches. o The paving machine to be used must be capable of paving the total width of the path, and have at least a 10' main vibratory screed. o All bituminous pavements will contain either crushed limestone aggregate, or crushed natural aggregate. o The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment, and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. o The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Department of Public Works. o Where needed, all traffic control used for such operations as defined by the MMUTCD will be the responsibility of the bidder. o The contractor, prior to submitting a bid, shall schedule an on-site visit to confirm measurements/quantities by contacting Department of Public Works Supervisor; Brent Kastel at (517) 202-6377.
