Description | The Poplar Street Storm Sewer System possesses multiple flooding problems within the developed area near the I-25 interchange, with all of the storm sewers unable to even convey the 5-year flood. Interstate 25 is not impacted in this area, but Poplar Street is heavily impacted due to the storm sewer capacity deficiencies throughout the basin. The proposed N. Poplar Street Storm Sewer Improvements - Phase 1 includes one large box culvert at the outfall to the N. Platte River, and two smaller pipe segments just upstream of the box culvert, which would handle the 100-year detained flow coming from the I-25/Events Drive Detention Pond. This project is the most important project in the lower portion of the basin and mitigates all impacts to Poplar Street near the I-25 interchange up to the 100-year flood. Phase 1 calls for storm sewer system upsizing along the north side of I-25, west of the Poplar Street exit. The project is included in the city's 2018-2022 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of May 13, 2019, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
