F--Little Cottonwood Mastication - 369 Acres

This project is designed to reduce piñon, juniper, and to promote the growth of the existing grass and Forbes. The goals of this project are to reduce fuels in the wildland urban interface and improve fire suppression options. The thinning efforts will concentrate on removing smaller diameter trees, in an effort to promote overall land health. The desired end result is to remove a percentage of the encroaching pinon juniper from the lower slopes, while retaining the older growth trees on steeper slopes. The more open range will allow for the development of a grass and forb understory.
