Description

The City of West Haven acting through its Purchasing Director, is requesting proposals from qualified consulting firms to provide professional engineering and Land Surveying services for the design, construction, and permitting of a residential recycling transfer station and a dry municipal solid waste (DMSW) transfer station. Based on their qualifications, four consulting engineering firms will be short-listed for an interview. The selected Consultant shall report to, and be responsible to, the City of West Haven Department of Public Works, (Thomas McCarthy, Commissioner). The associated construction project(s) shall include the construction of a new residential recycling transfer station, dry municipal solid waste transfer station, re-use collection centers for durable goods and clothing, white goods Freon reclamation, all available recycling collection and separation paths, homeowner generated construction and demolition debris, Tires, Paint, Mattresses and like items that are not typically disposed of via the MSW weekly household collection process generated by the residents of the City. The envisioned concept is to create a raised dumpster loading platform from a modular concrete structure to access storage trailers, storage shipping containers, and dumpsters. The site will include an office trailer, and staff bathroom facilities. The site shall also provide a laydown area for public works operations such as pavement millings storage. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
