Description

*As of October 9, 2023, the owner has cancelled this solicitation, as it is in the best interest of the University.* Cooling Tower Replacement at Cancer/Genetics (Building 1376). Contractor questions and requests for clarification are due by September 19, 2023 Summary: Cancer and Genetics was constructed in 2006 and uses chilled water to condition its 281,886 square feet of clinical research labs and office/administrative spaces. The chillers use 2 BAC cooling towers with 2 cells per tower (4 cells total) to reject the heat outside of the facility. After 17 years these towers have extensive rusting to the hot decks as well as the frame that shows they are reaching the end of service. The intent of this ITB is to obtain bids for the complete replacement of the cooling tower structure including fill, drift eliminators, fans & motors with heaters, external lube oil lines, sight glasses, and vibration switches utilizing the existing basin footprint, and the existing piping connections. Include any installation fees as a separate line item within the bid. The successful bidder will provide the demolition and removal of the existing towers and all items mentioned herein at the lowest price. The price shall be inclusive of all ancillary fees such as labor, shipping, construction management, and any other items the bidder requires for a successful project. Timeline: o Equipment is to be onsite by the end of January 2024. Provide a schedule with the bid that includes all lead times for all materials. Coordination of Delivery: o Equipment delivery is to be handled and scheduled through installing contractor. Equipment will be purchased as an Owner Direct Purchase. Materials: Cooling Tower Requirements: 1. Cooling towers shall be induced draft, vertical discharge, and package crossflow type. 2. Minimum 2900 USGPM capacity (per cell), See the original cooling tower schedule below. 3. 10-degree Fahrenheit heat displacement (Per cell). 4. Inverter duty motors. 5. Velocity recovery stack (Per cell). 6. Mechanical vibration cutout switch (Per cell). 7. External ladder with safety cage to fan deck. 8. Fan deck safety handrailing that complies with OSHA Standards and Regulations. 9. Internal plenum walkway extending from one end wall access door to the opposite end wall door. o Internal plenum walkway to include a handrail/knee rail/toe board assembly. 10. 14" Victaulic condenser inlet connection 11. Maximum overall tower height: 23'
