Description

The Hendersonville WWTF Ultraviolet Disinfection Improvements Project consists of the construction of a new ultraviolet (UV) disinfection channel and installation of a new UV disinfection system, to be provided by the City, within the new channel. The new UV disinfection channel will be constructed between the WWTF's existing disinfection channel and the existing utility building. The project will include construction of a new cast-in-place concrete disinfection channel, installation of the UV disinfection system, interconnection with the existing non-potable water (NPW) wet well, new NPW pump discharge piping, installation of power and controls signals from the utility building to the new equipment, SCADA integration and programming, construction of a metal canopy structure over both the new and existing disinfection channels, new sidewalk, stairs, and all associated appurtenances. The project will also include providing temporary power and controls to the existing UV disinfection equipment, NPW pumps, and other existing ancillary equipment located at the existing UV disinfection channel during construction. The project also includes the installation of 36" diameter piping, fittings, and valving between the existing tertiary filter basin and new and existing UV disinfection channels, including a connection to the existing tertiary filter effluent line, a 36" electromagnetic flowmeter and precast concrete meter vault, connections to the existing tertiary filter overflow line, connection to the existing UV disinfection channel influent piping, and construction of the new UV disinfection channel influent piping. Site work will also include a new cast-in-place concrete retaining wall along the eastern side of the new 36" piping. The Work will also include all related equipment, materials, and appurtenances necessary to provide a complete and functioning treatment system as specified and as shown on the Drawings. The City of Hendersonville will provide the UV disinfection equipment and all pre-purchased piping, fittings, valves, and materials to the Contractor for installation. Information on equipment, piping, fittings, valves, and materials to be provided by the City for Contractor installation is included in the Appendices of the Project Manual. Pre-Qualification: Yes Construction of a new UV disinfection channel between the facility's existing UV disinfection channel and utility building complete with the installation of inlet piping, effluent piping connection to the existing nonpotable water (NPW) pump wet well, grating, and related mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls systems. 2. Demolition of the existing 36-inch diameter filtered effluent and filter bypass piping between the tertiary filters and UV disinfection channel to the limits shown on the Drawings, and installation of new 36-inch diameter filtered effluent piping and butterfly valves. The City of Hendersonville has prepurchased new 36-inch diameter piping, fittings, valves, and materials required for this work. The Contractor's attention is called to the Bid Tabulation for all piping, fittings, valves, and materials pre-purchased by the City for installation by the Contractor, included in Appendix C of the Project Manual. All other piping, fittings, valves, and materials not shown on the bid tabulation that is required for the complete piping systems installation shall be provided and installed by the Contractor. 3. Installation of a new UV disinfection system, pre-purchased by the City of Hendersonville, within the new UV disinfection channel. The pre-purchased UV disinfection system includes the UV banks, system control center, power distribution center, hydraulic system center, fixed effluent finger weir assembly, ultrasonic channel level sensor, low water level sensors, level sensor control box, UV transmission monitor, flow conditioning plate, and other associated appurtenances. The Contractor's attention is called to the Trojan Technologies TrojanUVSigna TM Scope of Supply, Quote 215538 dated September 26, 2022, included in Appendix D of the Project Manual. 4. Installation of a 36-inch diameter electromagnetic flow meter and custom pre-cast concrete meter vault, with davit crane and electric powered winch. 5. Removal of the existing metal shelter structure over existing UV disinfection equipment. 6. Construction of a metal canopy structure over the new and existing UV disinfection channels. 7. Construction of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete retaining wall, with aluminum pipe railing, on the east side of the proposed flow meter vault. 8. Replacement of the existing UV disinfection channel FRP grating with new aluminum I-bar grating. 9. Removal and replacement of existing 6-inch diameter and smaller NPW piping, valves, and post yard hydrants, where shown on the Drawings. The City of Hendersonville has pre-purchased new 6-inch diameter and smaller piping, fittings, valves, and materials required for this work. 10. Removal and abandonment of existing 4-inch NPW yard piping by cut and cap, where shown on the Drawings. 11. Site grading. 12. Disposal of excess excavated materials off-site at an approved disposal site.
