Description | The Centerville Branch library has fiberglass PermaCast columns that decorate the exterior of the building. The objective is to repair the two (2) most severely damaged of these columns to provide a long lasting repair capable to sustaining weather conditions typical in Middle Georgia. Then repainting the six (6) front columns to maintain a cohesive look to the front of the building. A. The scope of work involves: a. Sanding and cleaning the damaged area so that sealant or clear patching compound can be applied to the joint or joints. b. Appling polyurethane sealant or an all-purpose patching compound to the fiberglass joint or joints, whichever provides a long lasting repair. The repair should provide for a tough and flexible bond capable of remaining durable during vibration, swelling, shrinking or shock. c. Prepare the area to be painted. d. Repainting the repaired columns and the surrounding columns with matching paint. B. Paint should high quality acrylic exterior paint of same color. Note: Acrylic paint with primer can be used as long as 2 coats are applied to the surfaces. C. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for work. D. Include all site preparation, pressure washing, sanding, caulking, masking, clean-up and all equipment necessary to safely complete the job. E. This is an active facility with heavy traffic Monday through Saturday. All services must be performed in a professional manner with special attention to cleanliness, safety and not to impede public access to the library. F. All walks, windows, plants and shrubbery must be protected from paint spill. Paint flakes and wood pieces are to be removed from common areas including walkways, flower beds etc. at the end of each working day. G. Scaffolding may remain in place but all materials, tools and equipment must be removed from the job site at the end of each working day. H. Wet paint signs shall be hung visibly where necessary and areas that need to be roped off shall be done so promptly. |
